About Vibe Games

Seven arcade games. One input each. Built by one person who thinks a single good mechanic beats a dozen half-finished ones.

What Vibe Games Is

Play Vibe Games is a one-person indie studio. It makes small, fast arcade games for Android phones and the web, each built around one rule: one game, one input. You tap, hold, drag or draw. That single action is the whole control scheme, and everything else in the game exists to make that one action interesting for as long as you can survive.

The catalog currently includes seven games: ORBIT.IO, GROUND.IO, INK.IO, PHASE.IO, DODGE.IO, SPLIT.IO and DON'T SQUISH BOB. All of them can be played free in your browser on this site, and the Android versions of all seven are in closed testing on Google Play.

How the Games Are Designed

One mechanic, real depth

Most mobile games pile on systems: upgrade trees, currencies, energy timers, characters to unlock. Vibe Games goes the other way. Each game takes a single verb and builds a full difficulty curve around it. In ORBIT.IO the only thing you can do is reverse direction. In GROUND.IO you can't move at all; you can only decide how long to charge a blast. The depth comes from timing, reading threats and learning patterns, not from menus.

Threats you can learn

Every game introduces its enemies one at a time as a run goes on. Each threat type has exactly one behavior: one moves straight, one homes in, one waits and then dashes, one splits apart. Early in a run you meet them alone; later they show up together. Across the catalog there are 41 distinct threat types, and every one is documented in the game guides so you know what you're up against.

Short runs

A run lasts anywhere from twenty seconds to a few minutes, so a game fits into any spare moment, and every death teaches you something for the next run.

How the Games Are Free

There is no pay-to-win anywhere in the catalog. Nothing can be bought that makes you stronger. Inside the Android apps, the only ads are optional rewarded videos: you can choose to watch one to keep a run going after you lose, and you can always decline. This website shows ads on its text pages, like this one, to cover hosting and development. The browser games themselves play full screen without ads.

How the Browser Versions Work

The browser versions of ORBIT.IO, DODGE.IO and SPLIT.IO are faithful ports of the Android apps: same physics, same scoring. GROUND.IO, INK.IO, PHASE.IO and DON'T SQUISH BOB were built for the browser first. Everything runs locally in your browser with no download and no account. Your best scores are saved on your own device. Each game works with a finger on a phone or a mouse on a computer.

Help Test the Android Games

Google requires new games to spend 14 days in closed testing before they can launch publicly. If you have an Android phone, you can join the testers group and opt in to each game from the beta section of the home page. Testers get every update first, and every bug report helps a game ship.
